The PUBG MOBILE Global Open (PMGO), the preeminent LAN event inaugurating the 2025 competitive season for PUBG Mobile, is slated to unfold in Uzbekistan. This revelation was articulated by James Yang, the Senior Director of the Global Esports Center at Level Infinite, during last week’s Gamescom LATAM. While the specific date and locale for PMGO 2025 remain undisclosed, the announcement has already stirred excitement within the esports community.
PUBG MOBILE Global Open 2025: A Pioneering Esports LAN in Uzbekistan
The PMGO was established as a conduit for players to ascend to international esports arenas through open qualifiers, thereby earning its moniker “Global Open.” This initiative emerged amidst significant modifications to PUBG Mobile’s esports ecosystem, including the introduction of partnered leagues. These leagues—PMSL SEA, EMEA, Americas, and Central/South Asia—have reshaped the competitive landscape, constraining it to a select cadre of teams.

Consequently, the PUBG Mobile Global Open (PMGO) 2024 furnishes a rare opportunity for tier 2 teams to vie at the apex of PUBG Mobile Esports. When unveiling the new PMGO in late 2023, Yang emphasized the tournament’s potential to penetrate nascent markets with burgeoning esports scenes. Thus, the PMGO 2025’s venture into Uzbekistan is a testament to this vision.
Although the exact venue and schedule are yet to be confirmed, it is anticipated to commence in early 2025, mirroring the current year’s format. During the PMGO 2024, top teams from PUBG Mobile’s partnership program were granted direct invitations, while the remaining slots were accessible to the general public. Despite the temporal disparity between Brazil and Asia, the game’s primary audience, the PMGO achieved impressive viewership statistics. Esports Charts documented a peak viewership of 513,000, with an average viewership of 154,000.
With the PUBG MOBILE Global Open 2025 on the horizon, Uzbekistan is poised to make its mark on the global esports stage, heralding a new era for the competitive landscape of PUBG Mobile.
